The Kitchen began as a kitchen for my growing catering company which by 2008 had outgrown my home. Today it is a popular Cape Town lunch spot with a community of regulars, city folk, creatives and visitors from around the world.
We are most famous for our astonishingly wide array of Salads, our Love Sandwiches, Honey Mustard Sausages and Treats. Coffee by Tribe.
Lunch is busy, and it is best to arrive between 11 and 2. There is mostly bench seating and a small table but queues move fast and although we don’t take bookings, you are bound to find a seat! Do not miss out on one of the best lunch spots in Cape Town!
111 Sir Lowry Road, Woodstock
Open 8 – 3.30pm, Mondays – Fridays
Both my books, A Week in The Kitchen (2012) and Another Week in The Kitchen (2014) are published by Jacana Media. Both are treasures! Everyone should have one! They make the most perfect present.
The books have sold tremendously well and are available at most leading bookstores including Exclusive Books, Wordsworth, The Book Lounge, The Readers’ Warehouse and online at www.takealot.com. www.loot.co.za and www.amazon.com. They are also available for sale at The Kitchen and The Dining Room, Monday – Friday, where I would be happy to sign a copy for you.
The books retail for R260 from my shops.
My friend Roxy Spears www.gooddesign.co.za did the design and art direction and the wonderful Russel Wasserfall www.russelwasserfall.co.za was the photographer.
I write a column for Home/Tuis Magazine. In 2015 I have been writing about “heritage food”, stories of flavours! Photographs by Francois Oberholzer.
